Hull Rupture Shop: Choose Kits Without Chasing a Perfect Drop

Use themed kit offers to address production or defense needs, understand randomization and avoid confusing demolition refunds with returned kits.

What should you decide before opening a shop offer?

Choose the problem you need the purchase to solve: a missing production capability, an exposed defensive route or equipment that does not fit the resources you currently make. That decision is more useful than buying whatever looks rarest.

The September shop redesign replaced individual kit offers with themed containers of modules or turrets. The developer’s examples are straightforward: choose a turret offer for defenses or a module offer for struggling production. Offers can include modules with modifiers already installed.

How should you compare an offer with your ship?

Use three checks before committing:

  1. Purpose: does the equipment address the immediate weakness you identified?
  2. Support: can your current production and workforce sustain the construction and operation described by its tooltip?
  3. Space: do you have a suitable location for its footprint or firing behavior?

A kit can be desirable and still fail one of those checks. The combat devlog explicitly presents two valid approaches: buy equipment that uses resources you already produce, or expand production to enable equipment that better fits your strategy.

Use production and Info Mode to diagnose the shortage before adding another demand. Hull Construction helps when the missing prerequisite is space, not another lucky shop offer.

Does the shop avoid repeats?

The September 25 demo patch changes randomization in both the shop and Despot’s Chamber: module kits not yet seen during the run become more likely, while recently dropped kits become less likely.

That is a weighting change, not a guarantee of a particular kit. It does not mean a reroll is certain to finish a production chain, or that all items have equal odds. No verified drop-rate table, exact current box-price list or reroll formula is available here.

Treat these as the latest detailed published shop rules, with their demo dates visible. Use the current offer’s description and displayed price in the release build.

Can Despot’s Chamber provide a missing kit?

The September update says more humans working in Despot’s Chamber increase its random kit production. Production is slow, but the kits are free. The same explanation says unwanted kits can be sold in the post-battle shop toward another box.

That gives you another source to consider, not an assured replacement for a specific purchase. Assigning more humans there also competes with other jobs, so inspect crew allocation before treating it as a cost-free economic choice.

What happens if you demolish or move equipment?

The detailed September notes say demolishing a module or turret returns its construction resources but does not return its kit. A resource refund and a reusable kit are different things.

Those notes also describe free but slow turret relocation, with downtime after moving. They do not establish the final release’s complete module-relocation feature set. If you need to preserve a particular kit, read the current operation’s confirmation before demolishing anything.

For a turret purchase, alien routes and firing positions can help decide whether a better location would address the issue before you spend again.
